Just back from another trip to Brazil, went north this time.  You really must go to Salvador in Bahia, this is where Brazil started.  From the Marcado Modelo (best place to buy souvenirs) you can get a boat to Morro de Sao Paulo, a great little island for a bit R&R.  Recommend staying on the third beach, they are all numbered, and eating around there as the second beach is much more expensive to stay and eat.  If you do plan to go there drop me a mail and I'll give you more details. Hi JP, We are planning a trip to Brazil in a month and want to check out Salvador and Morro de Sao Paulo...any recommendations on hotels? We are going for our honeymoon, so are looking for a really nice place for a week and then reasonably priced the rest of the time - so all comments are helpful. Thanks!

Hi Meira, Congratulations on the wedding!

As I mentioned in the first post I would recommend staying on the 3rd Beach in Morro as it's only a quick walk to the other beaches but is a bit quieter.  We were there off season mind you so not sure what it will be like as you approach the summer. The hotels are are similarish and the place we were in was fine but not amazing, I think you get what you pay for really.  I did come across this post recently and it is just below Morro so might be worth a look.

In Slavador itself there seems to be a huge gap between hotels and pension/guesthouses, and nothing in between.  But if you are on a bit of a budget I would highly recommend the youth hostel Albergue das Laranjeiras it is new and clean and very pleasant.  If you need any more info please don't hesitate in asking.

Hey I have a vacation booked to visit Rio De Janiero and Salvador. What are some must see places? I know were going to see the Christ statue and sugar loaf mountain. Are the Iguassu (sp) waterfalls a one day trip thing or is it take a few days? all i can find online are multi-day trips for the waterfalls. Same thing with caving. I really want to go caving but are there any 1 day activities for that? Please contact me as i would love to know of some great places so i can make this trip the best possible. thank you! ~Eric Dream ~ Explore ~ Discover
