Dooooooong

Now on LeeLeFever.com - March 25, 2007 - 11:30pm

I must have heard that sound 28 times today in the latter stages of UNC's losing match against Georgetown. It was the sounds of shot after shot after shot. DOOOOONG - off the rim.

As Mark said in all his victorious brackety glory...

UNC was the better team all day and arguably has the better set of players, but for almost the entire overtime, they could not buy a bucket.

The Tarheels, they're young. Like the south, they'll rise again.

I'm impressed. The UNC game is not on our west coast TV channels. Thanks Oregon.

Luckily CBS has the free March Madness on Demand. We've got the game playing full screen on a monitor hooked to a laptop. Never again will we have to miss a game because of TV coverage. All hail the Internets.

Video: My First Nascar Race

Now on LeeLeFever.com - March 21, 2007 - 11:58am

A few weeks ago Mark put together an amazing Nascar experience at California Motor Speedway that included an RV parked in the infield of the racetrack. Here is a late-coming video of the experience:

What an awesome time, though have to say that California has a bastardized version of redneck culture. Maybe our next race will be in the south.

The Hedge Project

Now on LeeLeFever.com - March 7, 2007 - 8:33pm

Those of you that have been to our house have seen the giant hedge we have in the back yard. It's intimidating. Since we've been back home it's been on Sachi's list to trim it back and being the motivated person she is, I could not stop her from giving our friendly hedge a crew-cut. She did 95% of it with a ladder and an old lopper (long handled clipper). She now has forearms like Popeye. Amazing.

My Article on Planning Your Next Big Adventure at Brave New Traveler

Now on LeeLeFever.com - March 5, 2007 - 8:50am

After the talk about the trip at Northern Voice, I met Ian Mackenzie who founded an online travel magazine called Brave New Traveler and a travel blog community called TravelBlogger.net.

Ian was interested in hearing more about 3 tips that we often give people who are planning their next big adventure and asked if I would write a short article about the tips. The article I wrote is now posted at Brave New Traveler and is called: 3 Secrets to Planning Your Next Big Adventure.

Here's an excerpt:

I remember the first time the trip became real to me. My wife Sachi and I were at our friend’s house and, as we planned before the visit, we let it fly…

“So, we have some big news for you guys. Starting in December of 2005, we’re going on a trip around the world for a year, coming back home in December of 2006.” I remember this moment for a few reasons.

First, I remember their reaction, which was something like “you’re gonna WHAT?” Second, this was the first time we told anyone about our big plans. For the first time, we were officially on the hook – to change plans now would be tantamount to failure.

The tips can also be found on our last entry on the TwinF site.

What Goes Around Comes Around (Eventually)

Now on LeeLeFever.com - March 2, 2007 - 10:04pm

We don't really watch our backs anymore. From Halloween of 2003 on and most of 2004, we expected revenge for our actions and lived in a state of minor uncertainty. You see, on that faithful Halloween eve, we took it upon ourselves to TP (cover with toilet paper) our friend's Blake and Christi's house. It worked like a charm and days later the truth was revealed, much to their surprise. Of course, we played the story out on this very blog. More than that though, revenge was declared - revenge that, until now, had not been brought to fruition.

Just tonight I walked into our living room and noticed something strange about our wall - it was missing something quite obvious - namely two big metal stars - one about 4 feet across. They seemed to have vanished and we had no idea when, where or how. Our first thought was our friendly neighbors Blake and Christi, still reeling from the toilet paper episode. I called Blake and he played dumb (not a difficult task) but succeeded in convincing me that he knew nothing. A mystery. We called other people who have keys to our home. Nothing. Should we change the locks? The night took a dark turn as we felt a little uneasy about our security (and Mark hacked our previously defunct alarm system). Who the hell would steal stars? Maybe Bootsy did it.

That of course ended when I checked email and got a message from Blake about a new post on his blog and Christi's blog. To return our favor in full, he had obliged with a post - just for us entitled "To My Good Friends Lee, Mark and Sachi". To this post was attached this picture:

So yes, round one is complete - and it only took four freaking years.
